Editorial Intern, Digital Product Development
The Partnership for a Drug-Free America is currently seeking a smart, energetic, self-motivated and creative go-getter to join its Digital team as an editorial intern. The editorial intern will work with the Director of Content and Community, Webmaster, and Web Producers in the planning and production of web content, features and websites as well as ongoing facilitation and maintenance of our online communities including message boards, Yahoo! Groups and blogs. The editorial intern will also provide administrative support to the Director of Digital Product Development.
Specific responsibilities include:
- Supporting digital team in all activities leading to and including web publishing
- Assisting in the maintenance and quality assurance of our suite of websites
- Developing, writing, editing and copyediting web copy and content features
- Liaising with writers, bloggers, community moderators, designers, photography sites and production teams and project leaders throughout the production process
- Organizing and researching projects with tight deadlines
- Conduct basic research, reporting and fact checking
- Opportunity to write and produce short online articles and copy as well as blurbs for our parent eNewsletter
- Developing new content features for our teen-targeted website, www.checkyourself.com and teen features on drugfree.org sites
- Facilitating search engine marketing, cross-linking and site promotion
- Handling content permission requests
- Occasionally obtaining rights to use content materials from other publications
- Overseeing user testing and surveys (recruiting, scheduling, testing, reporting)
- Offering feedback on art direction and design during web development
- Assist in production of video content development
- Add news releases to websites via content management system
- Developing new homepage mantels for drugfree.org
- Updating our Guides, Books & Movies section
- Manage email and phone queries
- Assist Digital team with administrative tasks as necessary
Requirements:
- College student working toward BA in Journalism, English, Creative Writing or a related field
- Facility with Word, Excel, and Internet research; basic knowledge of HTML
- Self-motivation and ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to juggle multiple projects
- Eye for detail and attention to accuracy
- Good interpersonal skills and ability to work in a professional and fast-paced environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to exercise editorial judgment
- Experience in an online/web-based communications environment a plus
- Ability to anticipate problems and devise creative solutions

Advertising Manager
The Advertising Manager plays an integral part in the creative development process at the Partnership for a Drug-Free America. As such, it provides a great opportunity to learn and grow! The manager will gain a thorough understanding and hands-on experience in every facet of creative development – in a nonprofit organization with a great mission of helping parents raise healthy drug-free children. The manager works with the Associate Directors and Deputy Directors in the department, providing support on multiple advertising agency projects. The primary focus will be on agency projects created for the Office of National Drug Control Policy’s National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign. The manager works closely with the Partnership’s volunteer agencies and production companies as well as the ONDCP contracted ad agency and cost consultant.
Major Responsibilities
- Updating and maintaining branding and production guidelines;
- Creating and maintaining production timelines and schedules for multiple projects and monitoring the status of each;
- Assisting staff and the volunteer ad agencies with pre-production information and materials;
- Ensuring creative work clearance through our internal research department and also the major television networks;
- Assisting staff with post-production needs, including managing the receipt and trafficking of all paperwork and materials;
- Overseeing the production estimates and invoice process for the creative work developed; and
- Attending all creative review committee meetings and preparing a summary report of comments and action steps.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree plus 1-2 years of prior experience in any of the following ad agency departments: account management, traffic, or print and broadcast production project management.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to foster incredibly strong business relationships.
- Highly organized/detail oriented.
